Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is the most popular forest in the Dooars region of North Bengal. Jungle safari, also known as Jeep safari, is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Jaldapara and the primary way to tour the entire area of the sanctuary. While on a jeep safari, you can see a variety of wildlife, particularly the Great Indian One-Horned Rhinos, for which the sanctuary is renowned, holding the second-largest population of them after Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
The Torsha River flows through this sanctuary, which is primarily covered with tall grasses and features luxuriant vegetation and a rich variety of wildlife. Jeeps are typically allowed inside the park during specific morning and evening hours. The sanctuary is also home to a diverse range of birds, including the crested eagle, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, shikra, jungle fowl, peafowl, and lesser Pied Hornbill. You can also spot various reptiles like pythons, monitor lizards, kraits, and cobras, as well as about eight species of freshwater turtles. Jeep safaris are a great way to visit popular nearby areas like watchtowers and deep forest areas, offering an opportunity to feel the happiest moments of life seeing the whole terrain decorated by hills and green forests.
