Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is the oldest forest located just on the Northern side of Gorumara National Park. It is about 80kms distance from Siliguri and about 20kms from Chalsa. The murti River flows by the western boundary of the Chapramari forest. Basically it is a small Sanctuary in India comparing to others. The whole forest area is filled with dense greenery which provides real natural shelter to the animals and birds living there. Chapramari Sanctuary seems like heaven in Earth for all the visitors because of the huge tall trees, thick bower of greenery, several small bushes and so on. There is a big old forest bungalow built inside the forest where visitor can stay and observe all the activities around bungalow like the waterhole and salt lick where Bisons, Elephants, Rhinos, Monkeys, Peacocks and a whole lot of unknown birds come to quench their thirst. On the other hand there is a Chapramari forest rest house from there visitor can have a panoramic view one of the oldest jungles of the Dooars region with the mighty mountain at its backdrop. One staying at Chapramari forest rest house has biggest opportunity to feel the mysterious sounds of birds and the jungle dwellers would give you the real thrill of spending a night in one of the oldest jungles of India. It is also paradise for birds watchers where 100 species of birds found here. Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is mostly covered with Dry mixed forest and wooden trees like Sal, Teak, Sishu, shirish etc.
There are lots of ravishing things to see around Chapramari forest rest house, visitors can spend the whole whole day watching the animals visiting the waterhole for their drink, the birds hopping from one branch of the tree to another and the sweet melodious note of birds. There is a famous watch tower adjacent to the Chapramari forest rest house where visitors come during the mornings and evenings offers the same view as forest rest house. Jungle safari, Jeep safari are also available here in Chapramari forest.
