Bhutanghat

Bhutanghat

Bhutanghat is a village located in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, about 45 km from the town, near the border with Bhutan. It is a picturesque destination known for its serene mountainous landscape, dense green forests, and the swift-flowing Raidak River. The village is an ideal spot for adventurous nature lovers and is considered an extension of the Buxa Tiger Reserve, also serving as an elephant corridor. While there is a 1904 forest bungalow on the riverbank, most tourists visit for a day trip and return to their base in nearby towns like Alipurduar, Jayanti, or Rajabhatkhawa.

Bhutanghat is popular for its rich biodiversity, with a variety of endangered species such as tigers, rhinoceros, elephants, deer, bison, and various birds and reptiles. The Raidak River is a major draw for birdwatching, where visitors can enjoy the sight of different species and their melodious notes. The road to Bhutanghat is well-connected to the rest of India via NH31 and offers scenic views of forests and tea gardens. For those seeking more adventure, a trek from Raimatang to Bhutanghat provides a great opportunity to get close to nature and its activities.
